Greg has over 16 years of operational healthcare experience as an active duty officer and medical administrator in the US Air Force. He has held the following positions: CIO, Practice Administrator, Director of Information Management, and Director of Performance Improvement. In addition, Greg completed a 10-month Fellowship in Survey Development, Analysis, and Performance Measurement at the Medical Group Management Association (MGMA). He has extensive experience in information management, benchmarking, and quantitative and qualitative research and analysis to include sampling methodology, use of statistical software (SPSS), and bivariate and multivariate statistical techniques. Greg routinely speaks at conferences and presents research results on benchmarking, practical statistical analysis, applications development, and operational improvement. He has been the Assistant Chief of Staff or a joint Department of Defense & Veteran's Affairs Information Management/Information Technology office. And he was a member of Air Staff in the Office of the Air Force Surgeon General, Air Force Medical Support Agency, Directorate for Modernization, Data Modeling & Analysis office assigned to the Pentagon. He manages a $6.2M information management contract, develops informatics tools for the Air Force Medical Service (AFMS), performs ad hoc data analyses using the medical data repository and AHLTA/CHCS data extracts, and oversees monthly enterprise-wide reviews of AFMS metrics for the AF SG referred to as the SG EGL (Executive Global Look). Prior to this, he completed and was competitively selected for a 10-month fellowship in survey development, analysis, and performance measurement at the Medical Group Management Association (MGMA) in Englewood, Colorado. And before the fellowship, he was a Group Practice Manager at the 1st Fighter Wing Hospital (Medical Group) and Chief of Information Management at the 1st Medical Support Squadron at Langley Air Force Base, Virginia. Greg earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Information Systems from Kent State University and is currently a PhD student at Old Dominion University in Health Services Research. In addition, he earned a BA (Summa Cum Laude) and an Associate of Engineering Technology in Biomedical Technology from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. He is currently in “all-but-dissertation” status and has completed all course requirements and candidacy exams. His dissertation is titled, “An Examination of Factors Affecting Non-Urgent Patient Utilization of Emergency Department Services by Patients with Perfect Access to Care.” And finally, he recently co-authored a book titled Benchmarking Success: An Essential Guide for Medical Practice Managers published in January 2008 by the MGMA.
